The BSc Psychology programme at RIC explores the scientific study of the mind and behaviour. You’ll study units such as Cognitive Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Biological Psychology, and Gender and Mental Health. This programme equips you with critical thinking and research skills, preparing you for careers as clinical psychologists, counsellors, human resource specialists, and market researchers. Graduates are well-prepared for impactful roles in healthcare, education, business, and research.

Route 1 – Direct / Standard entry:
Applicant must :

  • Hold at least 3 grades A-D at Advanced level or equivalent and one of these must be obtained in Mathematics, Psychology, or Biology
  • Ordinary level Mathematics, grade A-C or equivalent
  • Pass the internal Admission Test and interview

Route 2 – Performance based entry:
Applicant must :

  • Hold at least 6 grades A – D at Ordinary Level or equivalent and one of these must be obtained
    in Mathematics, at grade A – C or equivalent
  • To be admitted onto the full BSc programme, must pass two required modules with an overall result of 40% or above, with at least 40% in each element of assessment
  • Pass the internal Admission Test and interview

Route 3 – Via International
Foundation Programme (IFP)

Applicant must :

  • Complete the IFP
  • One of the courses taken as part of the IFP should be Mathematics and Statistics [FP0001], which should be passed with a mark of at least 60%

Those who wish to pursue their careers as a registered Psychologist, can opt for an M.Phil. / Psy.D. / Ph.D. in Psychology/ Philosophy and fulfill their minimum clinical hours under supervision to qualify as a registered Psychologist in Sri Lanka. Upon completion of the undergraduate degree, students can also follow further training to specialise in various forms of therapy and counselling (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy/ Psychodynamic therapy/ Conversational Model of Therapy) and become psychotherapists.
