The Philosophy Society is a student community committed to exploring concepts, challenging assumptions, and discussing matters that influence people and society. Our motto, Audi, cogita, quaere, is to listen, think, and seek, encouraging students to listen intently, reflect on their own, and seek knowledge via dialog and reasoned inquiry. Within the RIC community, the Society seeks to cultivate intellectual curiosity, creativity, originality, introspective discussion, and encourage independent thought. It offers a welcoming environment for students from all programs to investigate philosophical, ethical, social, literary, and modern issues while honing their communication, reasoning, and self-expression skills.
Members can interact with ideas and share viewpoints in a variety of ways through Philosophy Cafés, conversations, literary evenings, creative workshops, guest lectures, theater, the ethical bowl, and interdisciplinary events.
