Agora Society Launch Inspires Environmental Leadership Among EMFSS Students

The Agora Society of the University of London EMFSS programmes at Royal Institute Campus was officially launched on 22 July 2026, marking the beginning of a student-led platform dedicated to fostering informed discussions on contemporary social, political, economic, and environmental issues.

The inaugural event featured an engaging workshop and lecture series on the environmental and social implications of coastal mining in Sri Lanka. Students had the unique opportunity to learn from an expert panel comprising representatives from academia, environmental advocacy, civil society, and conservation organisations. The distinguished speakers included experts from BCIS, Greenpeace South Asia, The Pearl Protectors, and The Insights Initiative, who shared diverse perspectives on sustainable development, environmental protection, and responsible policymaking.

The programme combined expert presentations with interactive discussions, encouraging students to critically examine real-world challenges while developing analytical thinking and evidence-based decision-making skills. Participants actively engaged with the speakers, raising thoughtful questions and contributing to meaningful conversations on environmental sustainability and public policy.
