The RIC Gavel Club marked an exciting milestone with the successful completion of its inaugural session on 18 June 2026, welcoming a group of enthusiastic students eager to strengthen their communication and leadership skills.
The session focused on three essential areas of personal and professional development: body language, overcoming interview nerves, and building confidence. Through interactive discussions and practical activities, participants explored how posture, eye contact, facial expressions, and gestures contribute to effective communication and help create a positive first impression.
Students also learned practical techniques for managing interview anxiety, including strategies to remain calm, composed, and confident in high-pressure situations. The session encouraged participants to view interviews as opportunities to showcase their strengths rather than obstacles to overcome.
A key highlight of the session was the emphasis on developing self-confidence. Members were encouraged to step outside their comfort zones, embrace new challenges, and recognize that every opportunity to speak in public is a valuable step towards personal growth.
