A Night of Unity and Celebration: RIC Islamic Society’s Pre-Ramadhan Fair Shines

The air at the RIC carpark on February 14th was alive with vibrant energy, fragrant spices, and the joyous buzz of anticipation. The Islamic Society of RIC truly out did themselves, transforming the usually bustling carpark into a beautifully decorated cultural haven for their Pre-Ramadhan Fair. This spectacular event, designed to foster community spirit and celebrate the upcoming holy month, drew an incredible crowd of over 600 people, exceeding all expectations. From the moment guests stepped through the beautifully adorned entrance, they were transported into a world of cultural richness and festive cheer.
The fair was privileged to host a well accomplished chief guest, Mrs Maraim Ikram Mohammad, Attorney at law and programmer and legal manager at Women In Need (WIN) who joined in the festivities and supported the society’s initiative. We were also honoured to welcome distinguished Ms. Sarah Henderson, Associate Dean UG Laws at the University of London, and Ms. Lisa Kidger, also Associate Dean UG Laws at the University of London. Their presence added a touch of prestige to the evening, emphasizing the strong bonds between our academic leadership, the legal community, and the student body.
A true highlight of the fair was the astounding variety of vendors, with 40 stalls in total providing something for everyone. Attendees were spoiled for choice with food stalls that tantalized taste buds with aromatic delights, offering a delicious preview of the flavours of Ramadan. Fashion enthusiasts flocked to the hijab and those try on stalls to explore traditional attire in a fun and interactive way, while others browsed a wide array of accessories or enjoyed the lively atmosphere of the various game stalls.
Beyond the marketplace, the atmosphere was further enriched by captivating cultural performances. The choir of RIC delivered enchanting renditions, filling the air with melodies that resonated perfectly with the spirit of the occasion, followed by a solo performance from one of their members, Amaan Fawzulhaq. The entire carpark was decorated in a stunningly cultural and beautiful manner, turning a simple functional space into a genuine aesthetic experience. Overall, the Pre-Ramadhan Fair was a resounding success and an incredibly fun and enjoyable event for the hundreds who attended
