Students of the SEE222 Embedded System Design module under the RIC–Deakin Pathway Programme successfully showcased their design projects on Saturday, 6 December 2025, at Royal Institute of Colombo. As part of the module requirements, students designed and built a fully functional microcontroller-based automatic pet feeder using an Arduino Mega 2560, native C programming, load cells, buzzers, and custom-built mechanisms.

The standalone systems demonstrated advanced functionality, including pet identification by weight, unique call sounds, and precise food dispensing at scheduled intervals. The showcase highlighted the students’ creativity, technical competence, and problem-solving capabilities, reflecting the strong applied engineering focus of the programme and the readiness of these future engineers for real-world challenges.
