Summer Fair 2025: A Celebration of Talent, Togetherness, and Student Spirit

On the evening of 26th July, the Royal Institute of Colombo came alive with colour, music, and creativity as students and guests gathered to celebrate the much-anticipated Summer Fair, held from 4:30 PM onwards. The event brought together the wider community in a vibrant display of student talent, entrepreneurial spirit, and collaborative celebration.

The fair featured a delightful mix of stalls run by external vendors and students themselves, creating an engaging bazaar-like atmosphere on campus. Among the student-led stalls, enthusiastic contributions came from the Film and Theatre Society, Psychology Club, and the Christian Society, offering everything from handcrafted goods to interactive experiences and snacks, each reflecting the unique character of their respective clubs.

The musical performances were a highlight of the evening, featuring stunning vocal talent from not just one, but three choirs. The RIC Chamber Choir took to the stage with a performance that truly embodied the spirit of the institute. Their presence was joined by powerful guest performances from the SLIIT Choir and the IIT Choir, filling the campus with harmonies and heart.

The event was a testament to the dedication and leadership of our students. It was spearheaded by Methara Ahangama (Choir Leader) and Thamaasha Rathnayake (Director), along with the support of Imani Peiris (Assistant Director), Abdullah Siddek (Deputy Choir Leader), Indumini Wijebandara and Chanulya Dissanayake (Co-secretaries), and Kithmi Bandara (Treasurer). Their hard work and passion ensured the Summer Fair was not only enjoyable but also meaningful in bringing people together through music, creativity, and community spirit.

The Summer Fair 2025 was more than just an event – it was a celebration of student leadership, collaboration, and the joy of shared experiences. We look forward to many more events that showcase the heart and soul of our student community.
