This Foundation Programme is tailored for students aiming to pursue Deakin pathway programmes at RIC. It is suited for those with an O/L education background or having completed A/L but not having enough results to directly enter the pathway. This foundation programme offers students an additional benefit of better preparing for their degree. Through this comprehensive programme, students gain a solid academic foundation, acquiring the essential skills and knowledge needed for success in higher education.

  1. After O/L Pathway – Through One-Year Foundation Programme
    • A minimum of 6 C passes in Ordinary Level.
    • AND a minimum of a B pass in Mathematics (for Deakin Engineering and IT pathways) or Science (for Deakin Science pathways).

  2. Applicants who do not meet the minimum cut-off marks or course prerequisites from Advanced Level for direct entry may enroll in the RIC 6-month or 1-year foundation programme, depending on their qualifications.

Minimum Cut-Off Marks for Direct Entry

    • A minimum of 6 points from London A/L or a minimum of 7 points from National A/L with 2 to 3 A/L subjects. Points are assigned as follows: A=5, B=4, C=3, D/S=2, E=1.

Students who do not meet the minimum cut-off marks need to follow the RIC-Deakin 6-month foundation programme.

Course Prerequisites for Direct Entry

    • For Deakin Engineering or IT pathways: A minimum of an E/S grade in Applied Mathematics, Pure Mathematics, or Combined Mathematics at Advanced Level.
    • For Deakin Science pathways: A minimum of an E/S grade in Biology at Advanced Level.

Students who do not meet the above course prerequisites for the relevant programme need to follow the RIC-Deakin 1-year foundation programme.
