CENTRE FOR QUALITY ASSURANCE (CQA)
Our commitment to academic excellence has been fortified with the establishment of the CQA in May 2023. This centre is not just a testament to our dedication but also a custodian of RIC’s strategic plan, guiding our path for the next five years. At the core of the CQA’s objectives is the establishment of robust internal quality assurance mechanisms aimed at strengthening academic excellence and fostering continuous improvement. The CQA plays a pivotal role in ensuring and enhancing the quality of education, research, and community service throughout the institution. Collaborating seamlessly with faculties, administrative and academic support divisions, and other departments, the CQA is committed to upholding the excellence that RIC has fostered for over 40 years.
In May 2024, the Examination Unit was established under the purview of the CQA, ensuring the integrity and fairness of all examinations conducted at RIC, aligning with the institute’s mission of fostering a culture of quality assurance and academic distinction.
Together, the CQA and the Examination Unit establish a robust collaboration. Guided by the CQA’s strategic direction, the Examination Unit is dedicated to advancing academic quality and maintaining the high standards set by RIC over the past four decades.
The Centre for Quality Assurance is led by the Head of CQA and supervised and advised by the Board of Governors of RIC. The CQA is equipped with a Management Committee (MC) for taking decisions of governance of the CQA. MC is chaired by the Head of the CQA.
The MC comprises of representatives from all Faculties of Study, and Divisions of Administration, Finance and Academic Support. Accordingly, the members of the CQA MC are as follows:

MEET OUR QA TEAM - ACADEMICS
RESPONSIBILIES AND DUTIES OF THE FACULTY QA CELL
- Promote quality enhancement activities within the faculty liaising with the Curriculum and Academic Committee (or its equivalent), Teaching and Learning committee and other faculty committees and departments.
- Liaise with the CQA of RIC in facilitating the conduct of Institutional Reviews (IR) and Programme Review (PR) in the faculty.
- Prepare documents necessary for Institutional and Programme Reviews.
- Facilitate implementation of follow-up actions recommended in Institution / programme / Subject Review reports and monitor progress in their implementation.
- Liaise with Faculty QA Cells in other Faculties / Programmes within RIC, to share good practices and enhance the quality of Higher Education in Sri Lanka.
- Collate and analyse Faculty QA data such as peer review forms and student feedback forms.
- Collate and analyse data related to Graduate Employability and Stakeholder inputs.
- Devise and suggest additional QA measures or changes to the existing measures, based on the data collected on various QA indicators such as peer feedback student evaluation reports and external reviews.
