Recognising Outstanding Achievement at RIC

At the Royal Institute of Colombo (RIC), we take immense pride in celebrating the exceptional achievements of our students who embody academic excellence, perseverance, and the true spirit of learning. Among them, Sheneez Rizwan, a graduate of the BSc Mathematics and Economics (University of London) programme, stands out as a remarkable example of dedication and brilliance.

Graduating in February 2026 with First Class Honours, Sheneez’s journey has been marked by consistent academic distinction and an unwavering pursuit of excellence. Her accomplishments include receiving multiple World Prizes in Mathematical Economics, Advanced Statistics: Statistical Inference, Further Linear Algebra, Further Calculus, and Calculus, along with a Three-Country Prize and the Academic Achievement Award.

Her outstanding performance also earned her a scholarship to the LSE Summer School, a testament to her intellectual curiosity and drive for global exposure. Sheneez’s success story reflects the values that define RIC — academic rigour, mentorship, and opportunity — nurturing students into globally competitive scholars and future leaders.

“I am profoundly grateful to have begun my higher educational journey with the Royal Institute of Colombo. It has been the perfect stepping stone that has laid a really strong foundation for all my academic achievements ever since.

I firmly believe that graduating with First Class Honours while receiving multiple awards throughout my degree is not only a personal milestone but also a direct reflection of the unwavering support and mentorship I received from my lecturers at RIC, some of whom went above and beyond for their students.

Beyond academics, the student community at RIC has fostered an environment with the perfect balance of healthy competition, which constantly pushed me to excel, and unwavering support that made every challenge within reach.

I will look back on my three years at RIC with immense gratitude and pride. I am truly thankful for all the opportunities RIC has provided me and for also laying the foundation for me to pursue my future aspirations with confidence and clarity.”
