On 11 December, students from RIC Deakin’s Electrical & Renewable Energy and Mechatronics Engineering programmes undertook an educational field visit to Lakvijaya Power Station. The visit offered first-hand exposure to the operations of Sri Lanka’s largest thermal power plant, enabling students to observe large-scale power generation systems in practice. By engaging directly with real-world engineering processes, undergraduates were able to strengthen their understanding of core concepts and effectively bridge the gap between classroom theory and industry application.
