Spring of Wisdom – Business Edition: Inspiring Young Entrepreneurs
The Spring of Wisdom – Business Edition, held on August 7th, brought together some of the brightest young minds in Sri Lanka to pitch their innovative business ideas to a panel of distinguished judges. The event showcased creativity, problem-solving, and entrepreneurship at its best, with students presenting projects that addressed real-world challenges in sustainability, health, and technology.
Our judging panel—Mr. Nishan Fernando, Mr. Dhanushka Abeyratne, Ms. Menasha Samaradiwakara, and Mr. Janindu Janmika—had the exciting yet challenging task of evaluating ten outstanding teams representing schools across the island.
From eco-friendly solutions like Ceyquel’s Coconut Husk Paper (St. Bridget’s Convent) and Diyaluma’s Rain/Greywater Recycling System (Royal Institute, Maharagama), to impactful health-tech projects such as Wearable AI for Mental Health (Ilma International School) and SafeSteps’ Diabetic Footwear (Royal Institute Girls’ School), every presentation reflected the ingenuity and passion of our young entrepreneurs. Teams also impressed with creative business concepts including Nexus Loyalty SMS (St. Peter’s College), Digital CSR Health App (Lyceum Panadura), Urban Compost Device (Royal Institute, Maharagama), Solar Charger (Gateway College Kandy), Medly Health App (Royal Institute Girls’ School), and Sustainable Energy Drink (Brightwood International School).
After an intense round of pitching and Q&A, the winners were announced:
🏆 First Place – Team Ceyquel (St. Bridget’s Convent) with their sustainable Coconut Husk Paper project.
🥈 Second Place – Ilma International School for their groundbreaking Wearable AI for Mental Health.
🥉 Third Place – Team Diyaluma (Royal Institute Maharagama) for their practical and eco-conscious Rain/Greywater Recycling system.
This year’s competition proved that the future of entrepreneurship in Sri Lanka is in safe hands. The innovative ideas and passionate presentations highlighted not only business potential but also a strong commitment to sustainability and social impact.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all participating teams and our sincere gratitude to the panel of judges for their guidance and expertise. The Spring of Wisdom – Business Edition has once again reaffirmed its role as a platform that empowers students to think big, act boldly, and create meaningful change.
