This Foundation Programme is tailored for students aiming to pursue Deakin pathway programmes at RIC. It is suited for those with an O/L education background or having completed A/L but not having enough results to directly enter the pathway. This foundation programme offers students an additional benefit of better preparing for their degree. Through this comprehensive programme, students gain a solid academic foundation, acquiring the essential skills and knowledge needed for success in higher education.
- After O/L Pathway – Through One-Year Foundation Programme
- A minimum of 6 C passes in Ordinary Level.
- AND a minimum of a B pass in Mathematics (for Deakin Engineering and IT pathways) or Science (for Deakin Science pathways).
- Applicants who do not meet the minimum cut-off marks or course prerequisites from Advanced Level for direct entry may enroll in the RIC 6-month or 1-year foundation programme, depending on their qualifications.
Minimum Cut-Off Marks for Direct Entry

- A minimum of 6 points from London A/L or a minimum of 7 points from National A/L with 2 to 3 A/L subjects. Points are assigned as follows: A=5, B=4, C=3, D/S=2, E=1.
Students who do not meet the minimum cut-off marks need to follow the RIC-Deakin 6-month foundation programme.
Course Prerequisites for Direct Entry

- For Deakin Engineering or IT pathways: A minimum of an E/S grade in Applied Mathematics, Pure Mathematics, or Combined Mathematics at Advanced Level.
- For Deakin Science pathways: A minimum of an E/S grade in Biology at Advanced Level.
Students who do not meet the above course prerequisites for the relevant programme need to follow the RIC-Deakin 1-year foundation programme.
Engineering Pathway
- Mathematics (Major subject)
- Physics (Major subject)
- Chemistry (Minor subject)
- Information Technology (Minor subject)
Upon successful completion of the above foundation units/programme, students can enroll in the first year of the 2+2 pathway programme for Deakin’s Engineering.
Science Pathway
- Biology (Major subject)
- Chemistry (Major subject)
- Physics (Minor subject)
- Mathematics (Minor subject)
- Information Technology (Minor subject)
Upon successful completion of the above foundation units/programme, students can enroll in the first year of the 1+2 pathway programme for Deakin’s Science/Environmental Science.
Information Technology Pathway

Upon successful completion of the above foundation units/programme, students can enroll in the first year of the 1+2 pathway programme for Deakin’s Data Science or the 2+2 pathway programme for Deakin’s Software Engineering.
